Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy for Hair Loss
What Is PRP?
While platelets are best known for their importance in clotting blood, they also contain hundreds of small proteins known as ‘growth factors’ which play a vital role in the healing of various injuries, facial aesthetic enhancement, and even hair restoration!
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is the isolated serum derived from a patient’s own blood which contains regenerative healing and growth factors. PRP is used in regenerative medicine applications in oral surgery, orthopedic surgery and cosmetic surgery. It has been adapted since that initial application to other surgical fields, including the field of Hair Restoration.
How Does PRP Work
First, the patient’s blood is collected. The blood must be processed in order to separate the different components of the blood so the platelet-rich plasma can be extracted. . Through a process called centrifugation, the concentration of platelets increases significantly, thereby introducing many additional growth factors to help expedite your injury recovery process and enhance certain cosmetic qualities of your skin and hair.
The PRP is then placed into syringes so that it can be precisely injected into the desired areas. Treatment plans are individualized to meet the needs of each patient.
Growth factors are key to the benefits seen in hair and skin restoration.

The best candidates for a PRP treatment are patients who have slight to moderate hair loss, who want to take charge and regain confidence in their look
